Can a Man with Low Testosterone Get a Woman Pregnant?

When you’re trying to have a child but your testosterone levels are so low, that presents an insurmountable obstacle. Almost, but not really all that impossible. However, it depends on how low your T levels are and what’s causing it.

No matter how slim your chances are, you may still be able to get your partner pregnant even when you’re low on T. To bolster your chances, your strategy should be to get your body to produce more testosterone. We’ll tell you how.

Testosterone and Your Sperm

Even though you produce both spermatozoa and testosterone in your testicles, different testicular cells are actually responsible for each. For testosterone, it’s your Leydig cells that are in charge of hormone synthesis. Your spermatozoa, on the other hand, get support from your Sertoli cells.

Each sperm cell takes about two months to fully mature. While they’re growing inside your testicles, your Sertoli cells provide physical support to the developing sperm cells. Your Sertoli cells are dependent on the testosterone that you produce.

The biochemical processes that the Sertoli cells take care of to support your growing sperm are actually dependent on testosterone signaling. This means that when your Sertoli cells are not receiving ample testosterone supply, it could disrupt the growth of your spermatozoa.

When your testosterone production is almost nil, it can stop your spermatozoa from developing into maturity. When you only have a few mature sperm cells, it would be extremely difficult to get your partner impregnated with such a low sperm count.

Causes of Low Testosterone

Obesity, stress, injuries to the testicles, chronic and heavy alcohol consumption, and drug abuse are also possible causes of low testosterone. If you are getting treatment for cancer, that can also cause your testosterone production to drop significantly.

You may be able to get your testosterone levels high enough to impregnate your partner, but your treatment options would depend on the cause.

Assisted Reproductive Technology

If you’re unable to produce enough testosterone and sperm due to a genetic disease like Klinefelter syndrome, your doctor may recommend assisted reproductive technology. For men with very low testosterone levels, the main problem is that they usually don’t get to produce enough mature spermatozoa.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection is one of the options for men with extremely low sperm counts. Sperm will be collected directly from your testicles, and egg cells will also be collected from your partner.

To achieve fertilization, a single sperm will then be injected into the cytoplasm of your partner’s harvested egg cell. If the egg cell is successfully fertilized, the embryo will then be placed into your partner’s uterus.

ICSI is very similar to IVF or in vitro fertilization except that with IVF, the egg cell is fertilized in a culture dish. When an embryo develops, it will then be transferred to the woman’s uterus.

Will Testosterone Replacement Therapy Help?

Men who are clinically diagnosed as having abnormally low testosterone levels may be advised by their doctor to undergo testosterone replacement therapy. However, if your goal is to successfully impregnate your partner, testosterone replacement therapy may not be the best solution for you.

Testosterone therapy suppresses your internal production of testosterone. Your Leydig cells won’t be receiving the signal to produce testosterone because your body thinks your testosterone supply is enough.

This means that there won’t be enough testosterone in your testicular cells to support the growth and maturation of your spermatozoa. To solve this problem, your strategy should be to stimulate your body to produce testosterone on its own.

Natural Testosterone Boosters

To stimulate your testicular cells to produce more testosterone, your best option would be to take natural testosterone boosters. Numerous herbal remedies have been scientifically proven to improve both testosterone levels and sperm production.

  • Tongkat Ali

Whether you’re dealing with infertility or your testosterone levels are down because of stress, Tongkat Ali is an excellent choice for stimulating your testicular cells to synthesize more testosterone.

Unlike testosterone replacement therapy, Tongkat Ali actually works directly on your testicular cells. Studies show that Tongkat Ali is indeed effective in stimulating testosterone production. In fact, Tongkat Ali is recommended both for men who are suffering from late-onset hypogonadism and those struggling with idiopathic infertility.

Aside from stimulating your testicular cells to synthesize more testosterone and produce more sperm, Tongkat Ali also has antioxidants that help protect your growing spermatozoa. The added antioxidant protection helps to keep your spermatozoa healthy and to improve your sperm parameters.

  • Tribulus terrestris

What’s really beneficial about Tribulus terrestris is that it not only helps boost your T levels, but it also improves your nitric oxide production. You need high levels of nitric oxide in your penile tissues in order to achieve an erection, and Tribulus terrestris has been shown to do that.

Widely popular among athletes, Tribulus terrestris has long been acknowledged as a strong herb-based testosterone booster. Other benefits of Tribulus terrestris include improved libido and increased fertility.

Studies on Tribulus terrestris and male infertility show that supplementation with Tribulus terrestris actually has significant positive effects on sperm motility and quality. Some studies also show that Tribulus terrestris may help increase your sperm count.

  • Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is very popular as a supplement for mood enhancement, as well as for lowering stress levels and reducing symptoms of anxiety.

Because Ashwagandha is able to bring cortisol levels down in highly stressed people, it contributes to increased testosterone production. High levels of cortisol actually cause your testosterone production to slow down.

Top Supplement for Increasing Testosterone and Enhancing Fertility

Most men take male enhancement pills to improve their sexual performance. However, for those whose priority is to increase their testosterone levels, Male UltraCore is an excellent choice.

Male UltraCore is superb when it comes to stimulating increased testosterone production and higher testosterone retention, thanks to natural ingredients like Tongkat Ali, Tribulus terrestris, and Ashwagandha.
